Gully Cleaning
A gully is roadside drain. The purpose of a gully is to collect water from a road to stop it flooding. Here at DAMM we maintain a large number of gullies for various local authorities all across Scotland. We clean them, removing all debris and clearing any blockages. We ensure they are working effectively and are free-flowing. In this particular gully cleaning case, we were contacted by Fife Council to assist with gully cleaning across their geographical transport network. We worked all over Fife for the council, from St Andrews to Rosyth.
Our DAMM fleet has a number of specialist vehicles perfectly suited to cleaning gullies. (See some examples of gullies, pictured below.) This means that we can offer clients a fast and reliable service at a fair price. Cleaning roadside drains properly is a cost-effective way of keeping roadside networks operational. Flooding and surface water can cause endless issues for drivers and public transport services. It can be very hazardous and dangerous – so it’s really important to keep a road network functional and safe, especially in winter. Working alongside Fife Council we worked methodically through problematic areas with drainage issues, and then moved on to work in areas where we provided the council with preventative drainage solutions.
